Superintendents & Administrators: Partners In Success

A study commissioned by the Indiana Chamber Foundation and conducted through the work of Dr. Brandie Oliver and Mr. Matt Fleck to examine perceptions of Indiana School Superintendents and Principals related to the delivery of statewide school counseling services. This study revealed perceptions of school leadership related to school counselor hiring practices and best-matched tasks. It also provides an overview of school administrators views related to improving school counseling.

 

Fleck Education: An Analysis of Indiana School Counseling-Laws, Rules and Policies

A study commissioned by the Indiana Chamber Foundation and conducted by Fleck Education to examine Indiana School Counseling laws and rules related to school counseling licensure and laws impacting the delivery of school counseling services. This study provides insights into the lack of college and career readiness requirement as part of school counseling licensure and mandates that impact non-counseling tasks assigned to school counselors.

 

Counseling Counts New Model of School Counseling

Counseling Counts is a comprehensive community-based high school counseling model that shifts the paradigm that high school counseling is not somebody’s job, but rather the responsibility of the entire community. This model, developed by the Institute for Coalition Building, and through work commissioned by the Indiana Chamber Foundation was shared with a broad group of statewide school counseling stakeholders at the December 2015 school counseling convening. Recognizing Promising Models of School Counseling 2015

A follow-up study to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Foundation 2014 study: The Indiana School Counseling Research Review. This study aims to better understand emerging innovative models of school counseling structures and best practices in Indiana and nationwide.

 

Financial Implications of School Counseling Models and Best Practices

A follow-up to the 2014 Indiana Chamber Foundation study, the Indiana School Counseling Review, and the 2015 study in partnership with Fleck Education and Center of Excellence in Learning of Leadership (CELL) to examine the financial implications of school counseling models and best practices identified in the study: Recognizing Promising Models of School Counseling 2015. This study examined the perspectives of Indiana school financial and business officer practitioners.


 

2025 Timeline of Progress

A timeline of progress in the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and its Foundation related to school counseling from 2012 to date. The timeline begins with the work of the Indiana Chamber’s long-term economic action plan in 2012 through its Foundation’s research in school counseling that led to the 2016 Lilly Endowment funded Comprehensive School Counseling Initiative announced in September 2016.
